Document Managment System

Have a look at owl.sf.net as well. I recall it provides document management. According to the website, owl is "Owl is a multi user document repository (knowledgebase) system written in PHP4 for publishing files/documents onto the web for a corporation, small business, group of people, or just f...

Maximum Number of Terminals

The default number of terminals is tty1-tty6 with tty7 being graphical login. This is defined by default in /etc/inittab. However, the maximum number can theoretically be 255 and one possible way to switch between say tty2 and tty20 would be to use: chvt 20

Hello
Can anyone recommend a USB web cam that works very well with Linux. Also, the web cam should be readily available in the local market.

Thanks

Missing files and entries in history

I submit the command from the CLI like so: $ wget -c http://www.download.com/gaim.rpm (for example) If the connection breaks i am able to continue the download. But most of the time, i ju...

What Cluster?

I think Shakirz1 requires to build a HA or high availability server most suited for database applications in a corporate setting. The following site: www.linuxvirtualserver.org should provide a start.

My 2c.

MSN Messenger

Hi
Have you used GAIM that comes bundled with RH9. It will allow you to use MSN, Yahoo, ICQ and a number of other messaging services. The version bundled with RH9 is 0.59 and needs to be updated. But otherwise GAIM will do the job well enough.

Storing images in MySQL

Zaeem's advice is good. You can place a link to the images in the database. However, if you still would like to place the images in the database, the type to use is blob or binary large object.

my 2 cents.

RH9 support

RedHat may have stopped support for RH9 but the distribution is alive thanks to an update facility provided by Fedora. Users of RH 9 can keep their systems current by updating online. Plus: RH9 has received very high evaluation in terms of performance and utilities bundled with it. Overall it is a v...

Dual CPUs

If hyper threading is enabled, does Linux detect that as two processors each?

I know that with HT enabled CPUs, the linux kernel does divide processes per phyical CPU and a virtual one like HT.

One of the best tools to manage MySQL databases both local and remote is phpmyadmin.
