gcc3.2.3 on an ia_64 (Itanium 2) machine running gcc2.96

Hello all -

I would like to know if anyone out there has tried something like this:

installed gcc 3.2.x on an Itanium2 running Advanced Server 2.1(ia_64)
against gcc2.96?

Is it possible to build gcc 3.2.x from the source against/using v2.96 compiler?

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Thanks!

Is there any package that allows transparant xterm window capability in redhat 8? info on xterm backgrouds, transparant images used in xterms, etc. would be helpful too.

Thanks!
