Mr Braveheart if you don't mind kindly post thread in English and give as much tech details as you can. In your post you have not painted clear picture.
My observation is Linux installation is defined as a gateway for your win box or other lan...you have to see what traceroute etc says.

Did you run squid -z before starting the daemon?

Seems no issue with conf files running on separate linux distributions.

Your post is not clear! Which script you developed to monitor servers?
If you are looking for open source applications for server monitoring then go or "nagios" or "zabbix".

Next time please make sure your post is clear and to the point.

What about LDAP??? Off course there is nothing as GUI as Active Directory in Linux.

Sendmail & Postfix are reliable and stable MTA's. If you have not worked on it before then go for Postfix.

I would recommend Debian for servers if want commercial support then go for Ubuntu.

Squid logs will give you good picture if not start squid in debug mode and see where is the problem.

Next time make sure you give full details in your post about the problem. No fortune teller around to guess what is going on at your end.

Linux/Unix OS are not like MS applications/OS. Technology is changing day by day but for Server applications shell is still as powerful as it was. If you used Apache 1.3 or earlier then it will not be difficult for you to work on Apache 2.2 etc. Base is the same. But I must say MS do change its appl...

Upto you how do you use it. I prefer FreeBSD dummy net or OpenBSD AltQ for traffic shaping.

There is no such work which is Easy in the world. Only the job you enjoy is easy. Linux/Unix individuals are highly paid in the international market. One of the reason being few people around due to nature of OS. Once you tune your self with its environment then nothing is difficult. If you have pas...

1. Make init.d or rc.d script executable
2. If you are running Debian then use
root@skx:~# update-rc.d squid defaults

For any other distribution search the net
