Also, my device is /dev/mouse

yours is /dev/input/mice

kbukhari`s is /dev/psaux

doesnt that makes a difference?

My slack is playing strange games with me. When i put in ur settings and commented all my settings in xorg.conf, my X window server broke down. yeah..I also anticipated that default kernel settings would work. But during my google session I came across this article in which the guy said that you still need to configure vanilla kernel.

Final fix was enabling filesystems as "y", both ext2 and ext3, and everything related to them enabled as "y".

Hi, yeah, i did that, and it boots from old kernel. I did some search over it on google and came across this post in which a guy said that, he fixed same problem by setting vga = 0 in lilo.conf. I tried doing that but it didnt solve my problem. So i set it back to vga = 773. here is how my lilo.conf...
