Assalam o Alaikum, As most of you know, using Nafees Web Naskh font for writing English text does not go well on Linux. So I was thinking if somehow I could manage to combine both Nafees Web Naskh and Liberation Sans, reading and writing Urdu on LinuxPakistan forums will become easier. So I need gui...

Thank you Farrukh bhai for your reply. But I have already found a solution that worked for me. Since the problem had started after a power failure, therefore it was clear that the most probable reason for this error was some corrupted files. So I opened Synaptic, selected "Repositories" fr...

And do not forget: If you want a system-wide installation for all users then run the file as root.

ahmerin wrote:Do u think that problem is *only* serial to usb cable - serial on one end and usb on the other?

Yes, it is the only part that is creating problems. Otherwise the modem has no problem. It is also clear from Tariq Zia's tutorial.

It seems like some PTCL employee has read my previous post on this topic as they have finally activated internet service on my cousin's phone.
So now I only have to wait for your reply about whether or not the solution worked on Ubuntu 8.04 also.

Karachi OS should be renamed to represent the whole Pakistan

Assalam o Alaikum, I request the maintainers of the KOS project that Karachi OS should be renamed to something that represents the whole nation instead of just a particular area. Otherwise I am afraid that it will not be able to get wider acceptance even when it has been prepared specifically for Pa...

Another thing that I forgot to mention is that if I would set the value of "RUN" in the rule file as "echo 'echo 2 > /sys/bus/usb/devices/1-1/bConfigurationValue' | sh", it would make the processor usage go to 100% and the output of dmesg would show the following lines again and ...

Recently I had to configure the modem on my cousin's computer who is using Ubuntu 7.10. The same method may work for 8.04 as well. I was getting the same error even after I edited the rule file i.e; it would choose configuration #1 instead of #2 for the USB to serial cable. So after about three hour...
