Yup all icmp echo requests with the destination of our own servers will be dropped. however, you can ping the servers who can allow. such as www.yahoo.com

btw, why you need to ping WOL servers?

According to my least knowledge, You should install antivirus for better protection.
Linux Arcitechture is designed to be more efficient against virus than windows. access permissions will not let virus infects other user's home dir.
