KDE 3.2 beta packages available.

Post by fawad »

The KDE 3.2 beta RPMS are now available over ftp.kde.org. I've used the Fedora RPMS at ftp.kde.org and the new version seems absolutely wonderful. I'm already using the packages on both my workstations. Some neat features from my perspective are

1. Good gpg integration (kgpg)
2. Good password storage capabilities (like roboform etc.) across the board (like for konq passwords, kopete, etc.) using kwallet.
3. Amazing new theme called Plastik.
4. Blazing fast
5. Great system integration with the OS (like on the fly video configuration from kcontrol, etc.).

There's a pretty neat review of kde 3.2 at osnews.com. Overall 2 thumbs and 1 toe up for this version.

Now that 3.2 is out of alpha stage...the core development of 3.2 series is complete...they'll now be mainly checking and fixing bugs in the beta stage.

Currently using kde 3.1.4-0.9x on RH.
Will upgrade to 3.2 beta today soon.

Gnome and kde are my favourite desktops.
