Click them for directory services, i personaly have not experienced it though.

Hmm, answer of your second quesiton is every linux distrubution is users friendly if users use them, Simple, isnt it?

Personally i like RH-7.2.
But my suggestion is not to go for RedHat anymore, give a try to Slackware or Mandrake.
If you have old hardware like Pentium-2, 3 with least ram Slackware will be awesome, Mandrake kinda resource hungry (by desktop perspective) but have very cool installer and other stuff.

In last,
Be your own judge, get 2, 3 distributions, install them, play with them i bet you will have better grounds.

Cheers!

LDAP is what MS uses underneath their AD structure but you will be better off using commerical directory servers like that of Sun, Novell or others. I have found LDAP pretty difficult to configure . rather i admit my complete incompetency in configuring ldap. never got it to work. if you do get it do post it at our wiki so that others like me can get some help.
