if not boot the SMP kerel then??

if i boot the simple kernel rather than booting the SMP kernel for dual processor machine......will other process will help in performaing the tasks???
remember that SMP is for dual processor but if not booted then wt the second procces will do .just stay idle??

commonsence says that 1 processor will work.our khuda ka waasta hai kernel compile kerna bhi seikh loo kab tak bachoun ki terhaan redhat kay kernel use kertey rahoo gay.

bachay i know how to compile but dont got the time
