NTFS read write support is there even in 2.6.0 test4 but highly experimental..hence it is not advised to use it yet.I only use ntfs read only support.

Currently using the latest 2.4.22 stable kernel.
Will give the 2.6.0-test5 kernel released on 28 sept 2k3 a try soon.

Just a me-too post. I've been using 2.6 since test-2. Have had problems off and on but nothing a quick search on google couldn't fix. Thomer.com has a nice list of things that need change when going from 2.4 to 2.6

That said, if you're faint of heart, wait for your distro to officially support 2.6.

Finally, NTFS write support has been in the 2.4 kernels for a loooong time. It's just disabled by default becuase it's prone to breakage (like Faraz.Fazil said). You can enable it, but I wouldn't recommend it. NTFS read-only support is perfect.
