i think it's yet another example of linux users copying other people's work instead of innovating. but, then, what do you expect from an os that's mostly a clone of unix?

Isn't it amazing how so many people can type "linuxpakistan.net" into their browsers but not "google.com"?

- mindshare: everyone's heard of it.
- drivers: linux usually has drivers for obscure or new hardware first (and even vendors support it better than the other operating systems); the drivers are not always the best quality, but they're there to be used.
- commercial software: you can download and install quake 4 for linux, or the flash plugin, etc.
- more developers: related to "mindshare".
that's about it.
is the kernel code base of high quality? no, netbsd's is much better.
is it a better user experience than freebsd? if you don't need commercial drivers, like nvidia's, the answer is no.
is it a better desktop than windows? i don't think so. it's certainly nowhere near as good as os x.
is there any linux distro that's as well organized and integrated as netbsd's, openbsd's, or freebsd's? no. you have one group of people making changes to the kernel, a different group of people making changes to userland code (things like ifconfig, or fsck), and a third group integrating the different versions of the kernel and userland code and packaging them together (but forgeting the man pages).

Thats Wrong.
Dear Lambda! That is really wrong that you trying to compare every expect of the linux with any other OS that is at its best.
E.G you trying to compare OS X graphics with Linux But OS X's best thing is its Graphics
As well as the other things but when we merge all these things and compare all expects of linux with each OS one by one and then we see what result came out.

BSD
Am not tryna taking side of Linux cause am too a BSD freak But that is far way wrong to disgrace a OS in the same community about which we all gathered here to improve and help each other!
