Is any one on the forum using Mondo? Can we have your comments from the prespective of using it in a School intranet. Need your input from Pakistani Schools prespective and if you can compare it with some other then please note that non GPL soloutions can not be considered at all.

Those who may need a link, they can start here: http://www.mondorescue.org/index.html

I am using rsync for daily backup of my data from 3 dataservers. Though it is not like any system recovery tool. I have wrote some scripts to automate the backup process and it works fine with me from last 6 months.

I have used mondo for backing up the router machine at work (Debian woody). Works very nicely. Gives you a self contained CD set for restoring data from. Only restored from it once as a test. The machines haven't gone down ever.

I agree with farhantoqeer that rsync may be a more efficient way to backup. mondo is a full fledged backup solution, it may be overkill if you're only looking to backup data and configs etc. rsync is pretty darn efficient, and harddrives are very cheap now, so backup on harddrives over the network may be a better way to go.
