Do you guys know of any Text-to-speech engine that works on Linux

If you are looking for a TTS /synthesis software and not a java applet,
Festival should be the choice.(Maybe prove to be a little difficult for newbies):

BTW SayItNow, offers a free java applet and not the program.

Yes, installation should be easy.(Applet in Say it now). and sources for festival.Decompress the .tar.gz archives using:

tar -xzf filename.tar
cd dirname

READ THE Readme/INSTALL file for steps...usually ./configure make make install etc.

If you run into a problem feel free to post here.
