Recommend Windows Alternative on Linux

An Educational Institution is seeking assistance in selection of Application on Linux. At present they are using following on Windows:

1. Matlab
2. Autocad
3. Prolog
4. Electronic Workbench
5. C++ turbo IDE
6. Java
7. Cobol
8. Visual Foxpro
9. Microsoft Visio
10. Microsoft Visual Basic
11. Microsoft Project 2000
12. Flash


Please recommend / suggest best application to replace each. If there are more then one then please recommend which you are using and if possible your reason for selecting it over others.

I have forwarded the suggestions given by both of you, if they face any problems or have questions same will be posted here so that other's may also benefit.

Farhan it is about time you update your paper on migration, [ re-write some of the stuff which prevented its wider circulation, we accepted that situation then as there was no choice but now per my understanding that restraint has also been removed :) now no more excuses :) ] let us now publish it here and at wiki.

I am working on a paper to circulate in IBM Conference. Will upload it here too. I have been called to speak about the migration in the upcoming conference from Emergen's platform but somehow am not able to do it. I hope to see some LP guys there in the conference. :)
