pppd daemon dies......

Postby Radiant_Metal » Fri Jan 31, 2003 6:29 pm

I am new to mandarke 9.0. I am using dialup connection for internet. In Gnome this dial up connection terminates as soon as it gets connected. The message is:" pppd daemon dies unexpectedly".
(The dial up is working fine in KDE)
Any Help???

pppd daemon dies......

Will you please enable the log and then post the message here. There is nothing wrong with any thing at system level as every thing is working under KDE. An error message from log will tell what is causing that.

Not sure :-( still this is the proper way to start looking for the cause of problem. Usually the first few line's of error message are important as they point towards what started all. One simple thing to do would be to compare the logs of connection under KDE and Gnome. HTH.

Assalamualaikum,

I have been using kppp for dialing in to my ISP, as whenever I tried to connect thourhg Gnome dialing program it never did, initially I tried to solve the problem but then I left. So from the last one year or so I have been using kppp as my primary dialing tool, although my favorite desktop is Gnome, so I use it from Gnome :-)

Regards,

-Meraj

P.S I find both (Gnome + KDE) cool ... !

may be login or password incorrect or any other kind of problem well my advice is to use the kppp dialer its the best i had used ..........just query the modem before dialing ..and assure the correct logina and pssword inshalah u will do it.

mainly the errotr appears to me when there is authentication problem from isp including the whole AAA process

actually gnome ppp dialer uses wvdial at back hand.
and you need to set stupid mode in your /etc/wvdial.conf , otherwise you cannot use internet on any ISP(in pakistan).i know it connects but after some seconds it disconnects you.

you need to write this line in your "/etc/wvdial.conf"

Stupid Mode=0
or
Stupid_Mode=1
or maybe
Stupid_Mode=yes

better to consult your ISP system administartor.
