by just copying the cd to ur harddisk will not make it work. its not the same case as done with windows instalation.
u need to make iso image from the cd or copy the iso image to the harddisk.
Important thing is to check validity of iso by doing MD5 checksum on iso u made with the one available on mandrake downlaod site.
then make the floopy using boot.img or bootdisk.img and begnin instalation.
to make the iso image from the cd use the follwoing command..it will take some time..dont panic
dd if=/dev/??? of=name.iso
(example dd if=/dev/hdc of=/root/madnrake10_1st.iso )
or
cat /dev/hdc > /mnt/windows/mandrake10_1st.iso
do the same for other cdz to make their iso images.
problem comming to my mind is that as u didnt mention on which kind of aprtition u r intended to copy the iso...... let me tell u ni advance from my past experience it works with fat not with ntfs.... and also workds fine with ext.
to make iso image in windows i think nero will help u.
now u need to make the floppy using rawrite if u r in windows and write boot.img or bootdisk.img
now boot from the floopy and it will ask u for the path of the iso images........ good luck..
as my past experienced that the iso images i made from the cd were not correct.. they got some problem with the MD5 checksum thats y instalation use to fail after few % and i havent got no choice than just to restart. so its highly recomended to check the MD5 just after u make the iso images.

The forums are for people to share and learn, when you opted to be a member you commited yourself to do just that. How do you expect others to learn from someones experience if you do not come out in the open and share it with all!MUHAMMAD HUSSAIN wrote:hi
