imp...!grub error 23 how to overcome

some thing happedned to the hardisk ..when i boot grub error 23 appears....i tried to recover grub by bootable cd but it said there is no linux partiton on the harddisk......
using commmand df or fdisk -l nothing is whon...
error appears ...the harddisk dont have a valid allocation table?????
wt to do not other than reformatting and instalation

check to see if your master boot record is ok or not and if ur partition table is ok or is corrupt.

Try this: (on ur own risk, as a last resort)

1.Do a fdisk /mbr from dos bootable cd
2.Start linux setup.Select upgrade and minimal install.Also choose to reinstall the bootloader.Use lilo or grub on the mbr

This will update the linux config and the partition table, without installig any new packages and takes only 4 minutes.The idea is to rebuild the linux boottable and bootloader configuration.
