Edit your /etc/X11/xorg.conf. Go to the 'Monitor Section' and then change HorizSync and VertRefresh accordingly. Here's mine

Code: Select all

Section "Monitor"
    Identifier "Viewsonic171s"
    HorizSync 30-82
    VertRefresh 50-85

Intel Pentium 4 3.2 Ghz @ 3.6 Ghz
Asus P5GD2-premium
1 Gb DDR-II 533 Mhz @ 667 Mhz
2 x WD 74 Gb Raptors in RAID0
Nvidia 6600 GT PCI-X
Gentoo Stage 1 on Reiser4 "sing with me"
