gnome adn kde

hi,
what is the difference between kde and gnome. i know they are both environments but y choose one over the other??can i install both in mandrake. if i do can i switch between them without loss of data. with switch i mean i can log on with kde and then later with gnome????

Assalamualaikum,

It is very hard to say anything about KDE vs GNOME. So I won't go in details about it ... I personally like GNOME.

You can install both desktop environments on Mandrake at same time & you can switch b/w both of them without losing any data. It won't take that much time ... Beside that you can use KDE's programs on GNOME & GNOME programs on KDE ...

Aslam-o-Aliakum,

i like KDE till now... why because no crash like gnome (specially during explorering drives)

I heard about now KDE... which is good in graphics + stability (as they said not tested yet)...
if u find anything which shows my lack of knowledge,
please guide me... thx

Asalam o Alaikum!

I have found KDE to be better when it comes to KDE vs Gnome.

However in case of Windows vs Linux, I think that one can get the best solution by combining the two worlds.
