What about version 9

Post by mdoubledragon »

I tried Redhat version 8 ,but it didnt work for dualbooting with XP for me as well as my friend, however it itself worked excellent, probably the cause was something wrong during partitioning and other related things, can anybody guide me if these matters are simpler in new version 9?

as far as dualboot is concern... i think... u install the bootloader on boot record of partition not on MBR of disk during installation... so install the boot loader (GRUB / LILO) on MBR... u'r bootloader INSHALLAH will work...

hay remember install Linux after installating all ALIEN (windows) OSs. otherwise u'r bootloader over written by ALIEN OSs...

in regards to POLL... i voted for this question (YES)
Linux is goot comparing ALIEN OSs for home users and specially for professional and Enterprise users.

not to this question

Linux has finally got equal to windows for home users
if u find anything which shows my lack of knowledge,
please guide me... thx

RHL 9.0 is definitely better and stabler than 9.0 though there is one problem. during the installation u can select urdu but it doesnt appear anywhere. it is faster then any previous version. one thing is that all icons were lost after a few days in gnome for no particular reason and all files were simple files. initialization of browsers like mozilla or galeon from right click often doesnt work. dont know why. kde is still suffering from ksig handler. but overall a good revamped distro. also RHL 10.0 alpha is out too
