ntl Cable Modem Does't work under Mandrake

I live in UK. My ntl Cable Modem is made by Ambit. Mandrake Recognise it but internet does not come. Knoppix which boot from CD-ROM. Recognise it and i can run the internet from the Knoppix. My cable Modem Attached with USB. I can Attached it with Ethernet. But I donot know how can I do this. Is some body solve my problem or tell me how can i attached with ethernet.

pls check the ipaddress by the command ifconfig while use net with knopics .. note the output of the command
as knopic runs the internet then it may be any other problem that u cant run internet on other linux.. soludtion is pls check the usb module.
other option is for ethernet is
plug in the isa or pci lancard ..u will not have any problem in detecting the lan card.
use the command ifconfig eth0 10.0.0.1 255.0.0.0 up
or use the netconfig command to configure ur lan card....i mean asign the ip .
after configuring the ehternet u can use the net now.

I sort it. Basically if you attach your Cable Modem with Ethernet Card then it will configure automatically.
