How to get Static Internet IP without DSL or PTCL land line
If I don't have a PTCL land line and I want high speed DSL or similar connection with a static internet IP, what are my alternatives?

get a shellhost account, probably. either run your apps there, or use screen or similar tools.
a few friends used to use this trick: guess the size of the dialup pool used by your isp, and then select an ip address in it (near the end). configure your ppp software to use that ip address (instead of a server-assigned address). it used to work in the past (last i heard of someone doing this was about five years ago); not sure if it'll work with current radius/ras setups.

current radius wont support how ever ras will accept the call and send request to radius but radius wont allow client assigned addresslambda wrote:get a shellhost account, probably. either run your apps there, or use screen or similar tools.

alternatives?
Dialup is not a high speed connection and mostly a land line is required for it. VPTCL and Dialog are proxy based just like a broad band cable net so can't get direct Internet IP using them. Are there any ISPs that provide wireless broadband with similar features to DSL?
