Postby faisal892 » Sun Aug 17, 2003 12:36 pm

Hi all,
I installed Mandrake 9 on an empty HD then I installed Windows 98 on the same disk but on the other partition. Now the problem is that i have lost my mandrake boot loader due to which I am unable to logon to Mandrake.
Can any body help to recover bootloader. But plz dont be so technical.
Thanks
Faisal

Well, sometime back a newbie encountered a same problem as you.I explained him the process to install grub/lilo or a 3rd party windows based bootloader to be able to boot all of his operating systems.

I posted the article at the wiki.Check this page of mine for the entire article.Just follow the steps correctly and you will have ur bootloader able to boot all the os's

http://www.linuxpakistan.net/wiki/index ... lling-Grub

Also note that you have two options:

1.Install a linux based bootloader like lilo or grub. Both of these are installed through linux. So you will have too boot from a linux rescue cd and install them.Check my article for complete info.

2.You can also install a bootloader like BOOTMAGIC from powerquest, the same company that made partition magic.BOOT MAGIC is installed through windows and it is able to boot all windows and linux partitions.Again check my article for more info.
