The rpm -Uvh command will install the package if it is not installed currently...and it will upgrade the package if it is already installed.

The rest are useless and donot give any information.

First of all, arpanet, you should have installed the hsf rpm using rpm -Uvh rpmname.rpm command in terminal.

I think Faraz.Fazil rpm -ivh will install the rpm Pakge and rpm -Uvh Update the Pakage If its Currently Installed.

Dear arpanet,
Sir, as many peoples as well as my ISP clients said that we have Intel Modem, Lemme tell you after that i had send email to Intel Coorporation and asking them about their modem so they told me that Intel Never made any kind of Modem blah blah. so its HCF or HSF Chipset. any way download the driver from www.linuxant.net and try to install with rpm -ivh command.
Best Regards.

Hmm....this is intresting.
WOuld u mind posting a copy of that email here?
There can be conflicting views here.

If intel didnot make any modem, then Why does intel have an official driver for the v90 modem then?

First of all, for the intel v90 modem use the driver available on the intel website (i posted the link earlier).

Use the hsf rpm driver for the Apache modem which is based on hsf/hcf and NOT for the intel v90 modem.

Modem drivers are normally provided by the modem manufacturer...not the company who's chipset has been used.IN this case intel has provided the driver on its website...which may point that the modem was indeed linked in some way to intel or was built by intel themselves.

Arpanet, in any case, do follow the steps i mentioned previously...i.e use the intel v90 modem and install Redhat Linux 7.1 with which the V90 intel modem has been tested to work.

Donot get confused with this email thingy.

Let me clear things here:

1.For the Intel V90 modem u need to use this driver:

http://developer.intel.com/design/modem ... -333-5.htm

2.For the apache modem which is based on hsf, use this driver:

http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/hsf/free/downloads.php

I think its clear enough.

So arpanet, use the intel v90 modem , insert it in the slot, uninstall redhat linux 9 and install redhat 7.1, then install the display driver and the intel v90 modem driver, as explained in detail earlier.

Thats is exactly what i said in my last post.
I think linuxfreak had a misconception about a link between intel and conexant.
