Post by syed »

A.A 2 All,

We have HP Proliant Server DL360 G5 server, this server has dual 3.2 GHz with 1GB and 120 (60GB,60 & 60) hard disk. I want to install fedora on this server.

This server contians a CD "HP quick smart start". If we run this cd for server configuration , in operating system select option it only show windows OS options. So how to install linux on this server.

I also tried to boot server directly with fedora cd, then it start and on loading boot loader it hangs with out any message.

So is there any special way to install fedora on this server or any guidence for me .

One thing more i have fedora with i386 version, will this run on server on i have to downlaod some thing else.
If anybody has clear idea about this , plz do share or guide me.

Regards,

A.A 2 All,

Dear Faruukh thanks for response. Yestarday I tried agian and moved one step up. let me expalin it.

1. I inserted fedora 4 cd1 in cd-rom

2. system booted with fedora.

3. it stayed constant on " loading bootloader" option.

4. it took about 30 min or so to come up with red hat installation setup ( i dont know reason for delay)

5. finally i moved through installation wizards.

6. before comming to hard drive partition wizard, a message displayed no hard drive found. Although there are three 60GB sata drives inside the server.

So is there any special to access the sata drive.

Best Regards,

Dear syed,
Salam,

There will be a Serial ATA Drive Driver in your HP CD, you can use that.

Best Regards.
