linux box in win2000 domain

i have cofigured samba to able to connect windows and linux computer in a workgroup enviroment. using wiki tutorail now i wish to know

How can i connect my linux box to windows 2000 server active direcotory (already running) so i can have share info between domain members and linux box

Plz help

good to see that the wiki article helped someone. if you want samba to authenticate using the domain server i.e. the AD server then change the security and password lines to :

security=domain
password server=*

that shall automatically find a domain controller and will authenticate you.

smbclient mout error

well zaeem if i try to connect throuh smbclient it says some
"ERRDOS- ERRnoaccess (Access Denied)"

But if i try mount smfs then it do
what is going on here?

I m using redhat 8 server

smbclient does a lot of stuff. i dont understand what u r trying to do. it can log u into a share like ftp, show a workgroup, show shares etc etc. i suppose ur trying to view shares using smbclient -L pcname. change this to

smbclient -L pcname -U administrator
it shall ask for the administrator password at the windomain. give that and u shall see everything. optionally u can add the winusers in linux using smbadduser. thats a nifty utility.
