I did.
I recently compiled 2.6 on a debian derived distro (penguin sleuth, a derivative of knoppix). It compiled okay but it does not boot even after configuring lilo. Seems to be a distro-specific problem. Will try it sometime later on redhat or slackware.

using rieserfs
I tried compiling and using the kernel on reiserfs. I built the support into the kernel, not as a seperate module but no luck.

some more issues
Assalam-O-Alaekum!
I finally got the kernet 2.6 compiled and running but now it is giving strange errors. It mounts the root filesystem read only. There are no virtual consoles available and no terminals windows are getting opened from within X. I think it is related to the proc virtual filesystem because its layout has changed dramatically.
Any one else experiencing such issues?
