brother

First of all the term is file descriptor not field descriptior

it means how many files system open at one moment in case of squid .squid is opening and closing many file at moment so that this limit has to be increase

the default file descriptor limit is 1024 which can be seen ulimit -a command where is says open files

to squid to use more than 1024 file descriptor is had to compile .but before compiling do put this ulimit -HSn 16384

this will raise the file descriptor to 16384

but one important thing u have to put this command every time u are starting squid
