Yes, you can do this from the "security = domain" scheme in smb.conf. search for security = in your smb.conf then, in each share you want: add a valid users = @user1 @group2 etc etc and make sure the workgroup corresponds to the domain name of your other machine.

Dear we,

if you want all the home directories to be located on another server and authentication from another one then its really simple. At the authentication server, put the homedirectory path in smb.conf for the users. at the path you specified mount the partition of the other server using nfs, smb . say your path is /home/%s . then u mount a exported dir or share from the file server at /home on server1 i.e the authentication server. no redirection explicity required.

Dear All,
Assalam-O-Alaikum

But there is a problem Ejaz sb. I want that there is a authentication server (Server1) and a data server (Server2). Server2 will hold the data of some (or all) users. Server1 will receive the login request and map the user's Z drive to Server2 so that Server1 (Authentication server) remains free.

U said that i create login on Server1 and configure Samba. The home directory of user on Server1 has a file in which i mount a folder on Server2.

I have done all this but there is a problem. The folder on Server2 (Data Server) have mounted on the folder (on Authentication Server) but the connection of the client (windows) remain built with the Authentication Server not data Server. I want that Authentication Server remain freee after redirecting towards the data SErver.
