Traffic Management

Postby we » Sat Jan 24, 2004 7:44 am

Assalam-O-Alaikum,

How to manage the traffic using two or more NICs in my Linux server so that one should use for one sided traffic like listen(receive) from one and respond(send) from other.

Dear We,
Salam,

Not sure that is posable with current networking utilites and for the most part pointless. look at some networking how-tos on www.tldp.org and www.iptables.org

Best Regards.

we,
The kind of scheme you proposed won't work. Think of it from the perspective of the other party. It sent a SYN to one IP address (receiving NIC), and it got the SYN+ACK from the other (sending NIC).

That said, look at Linux Advanced Routing and Traffic Control Howto for pointers on how to better manage your network traffic.
