bandwidth limiting

hi

I'm using RH 8.0 with Squid+Masq~ing. I want to restrict bandwidth to my internet users on my LAN. Is that possible to limit bandwidth per user basis?

I need ur suggestions

section 3 of the second url has some information about squid, but it doesn't explain all. see http://squid-docs.sourceforge.net/latest/html/x1982.html, http://www.squid-cache.org/Doc/FAQ/FAQ-19.html#ss19.8 and http://squid.visolve.com/squid24s1/delaypool.htm for more details.

i dont think it is possible to restrict bandwidth using iptables. may be u could use queuing and drop excessive packets but still thats not the right solution.

Sir You can't do this from IPTable, for Restricting Bandwidht You need HTB ( Hierarchical Token Buckets ) http://luxik.cdi.cz/~devik/qos/htb/ but its not trivial.
