Assalam E Elikum

I want to monitor activity of my all mchines on my LAN..
using IP addresses.

That when machine was shutdown and Login..
and what is going on in it..

well you can configure all your machines separately to log user activity and then tell crond to email you all the log files on a specified server. this can be set up in a script and tell crond to run it every day or whenever you like. You can introduce any amount of variety and diversity in this idea.

can be done with 98 as well,
the best thing to do would be to make your linux machine the router and sniff everything off of it.

Well you can use ( as cwackked pointed out ) a Sniffer like Ethereal or TCP Dump.. comes with Linux ... Ethereal is GUI Based and easier to use and TCP Dump is console based prog ... choice is urs....

i am not quite unable to understand ethreal its interface,
int purpose;
also how can we read all that ethreal;
throws at us in HEXA plz can someone point me to some guide or referece thanx.

i havent used ethereal much but there are quite a few guides online that you should be able to find through google or any other search.
