how to gre a word from files

Hi,

I am looking for some word within some 100 of files but don't know how to grep the file. suppose the word is called "allow" how to grep allow from 100 files.

dear

I just gave a command like

grep allow *.dm

and I got the file where allow is, I needed to edit the file which was having the word allow.

read your first question, what you asked, it looks like now you mixed up, before posting write in gedit/nedit/nano/emacs/vi and read it before posting.
