Samba Problem

Postby mudasir » Sun Nov 09, 2008 4:41 am

AOA,

I have configured Samba Server as a File Sharing Server. Things are working fine, i am facing only one issue.

When i open any share using \\172.16.254.2 it give me error.
\\172.16.254.2 in not accessible. You might now have permissions to use network resources. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.

The network is not present or not started.

And interesting thing is when i open the same share using \\172.16.254.2\Softwares it works fine, it opens up fine and i am able to work properly.

Looking forward for positive reply.
Kind Regards

Hi,

Let me tell you guyz one more thing. About a week back, my samba server was working fine, everything was working smoothly.

Recently i was trying to configure mail server on this machine, and when i finished the mail server, my samba sharing started to create problems. Earlier the problem was that Shares were taking allot of time to open, then the problem to permission denied started to show up.

The main directiry is /sharing, it has all the subdirectories that i was sharing. I tried doing chmod 777 /sharing/ -R , still the same permission denied issue.

My smb.conf file is as follows

#======================= Global Settings =====================================
[global]
log file = /var/log/samba/%m.log

workgroup = CRYSTALNET

Hi,

I ran a degug test using

smbd -i --debuglevel=3 &> /files/samba.debug

You can see the complete file from http://coolmudasir.googlepages.com/samba.debug

The file was very large, not in size but in content. So i uploaded it. Please if any one can help me i will be very thankful.
