dhcp/gateway tune

Postby Net_Spy » Sun Feb 15, 2009 11:02 am

Assalam walaikum..

Well want to remove gateway & dns at client end my current scenario is

I ve two servers and one dhcp server that assisgn ips to client along with the their repective gateway of client using mac based authentication dhcp header file caintain normal dhcp configuration while dhcp body having the congfiguration for both gateway and dsn .

Since my both gateway has independ they both have their own clients running,so it could be possible to acheive that task cause I will let dhcp to assign just ip and subnet to clients and remove gateway n dns part from there . I using squid in transparent mode for proxy . how to accomplish this I've seen this senerio on ISA 2000 one is dhcp server that assign ips to client and clients have isa client installed that have gateway ip which help the user for carrying http request and other in same way we have squid running in transparent mode . hope you guys got my point .

why don't you ask your users to put their respective proxy in the browser. it will solve your problem.

Dear you can simply write a DHCP script which will assign different gateway and DNS to different users.

User should be catagorised on the basis of IP series. Its very easy, no need to do it the hard way.

And if you saw this on ISA, then they must be using the firewall client, or some other Authentication method, or manual proxy, because without knowing the gateway its impossible.

Yes its possible if you use PPPoE, not to dive DNS and GATEWAY with dhcp and use PPPoE, it will work perfectly.
