aslamu alaikum brothers

how can i install jar files. plzz it would be betterif u tell in steps.( mean to say with commands )

you "install" jar files by placing them in your CLASSPATH environment variable.

The answer above is correct but jar is also used for compressing and archiving files & dirs just like tar. If this is the case here then to extract all files and dirs from a jar archive, you can use the command:

jar xf jarfile.jar

on windows:

C:/jdk1.4/bin/java -jar jar_filename.jar
jar_filename is the name of the jar which u wants to run or install

on linux:

/opt/jdk1.5.0_01/bin/java -jar jar_filename.jar
or
ur_javapath/bin/java -jar jar_filename.jar
ur_javapath is the path of ur java

if the file contains a gui then it will display gui else it will show nothing.....
