i wanted to make Network Analyser .... i have tried to decode all protocols in Network .... ARP just seems to get better of me ... has any one worked on deocding ARP packets?
I was intersted in any kind of small Telecommunications Software Project .. just for sake of learning ... my inclination is toward VOIP standards .... anything from H.323 to G.729 etc etc

thats easy
Hi,
A small part of decoding of ARP packet is given in the examples of the tutorial(s) found on the libpcap's home page. Though i havent really worked on it but thats not too hard to do if you are good at C lang. and use libpcap which you are already doing. Bye.

All the Code does is pointing out that its an ARP packet ...like u said ...doesnt decode the contents of ARP Packet .... it only specifies that the Ethernet Packet's Types is either IP or ARP etc ...
I have gone upto here and even upto extent extracted the Op Code or ARP Packet but wen i try to decode which IP Address etc ( the fields which are Variable ) am facing problems and cant decode the Addresses .....
i have also gone thru the Links ... but they arent any help with respect to ARP Packet .....
Thankyou ...
