setting up LAMP

Postby khurram niazi » Sun Apr 16, 2006 8:58 am

Salam friends,

I need gurus guidance regarding setting up LAMP(Linux, apache,MySQL,PHP) on my FC4(Fedora Core 4 OS).I’m a newbie to Linux world & have installed FC4 recently along with my WinXP i.e dual installation as they call it.
Now I want to configure Apache,PHP,MySQL.I know all these entities,re embedded with almost all Linux versions & at the time of Linux installation we've the options of installing this troika.
I’ve opted for their installation & they’re present at my system. But being a newbie & not adept at Linux commands etc. I don’t know how to configure them.
Some people say that already installed components must be removed & everything be installed anew online. But my problem is that I’ve not installed a Linux-compatible modem so far & therefore can’t install from internet.
If somebody’ve accomplished this task successfully then plz. help me resolve the issue.
I’m using WAMP(winXP,apache,PHP,MySQL) successfully for the last one year in order to test/process my PHP scripts on my local machine with out getting connected to a remote server. But now I want to set up LAMP.Any guidance/advice in this regard,d be a great courtesy. Thanks in advance
