Linux Distributions

Post by asaf »

Guys thank you for the good words. Just paying back my dues. I have taken so much from the OSS community that this is the mininum one can do.

I have four CD set of Fedora Core 2 Test2. Once installed can this be upgraded to the final version. Haven't downloaded the latest release.

Secondly, if anyone is interested in trying out EADEM Enterprise Linux Ver 3. This distribution is for enterprise customers and is on FIVE CD's.

Saalaamz asif!

I live in Lahore and do not know anyone here .... (or may be there is no one here) ... who have the Linux's distros except Redhat and Mandrake ...

In short its very hard to get debian, slackware, suse, knopix and so on and so forth in Lahore ...

May be you can direct me to someone from whom can one buy these or maybe we can make a deal that you send me these distros and I supply them in Lahore ... free of cost offcourse a service just lie yours....

I have shifted to linux just two months back and have fallen in love with it ... i want to do something for the community .... and this I think is the least i can do .....

Salaam!

amkali why don't you download these distros? Just ask anyone with cable net. My cable net provider gives more than 20k download speed (it is only for almost 15 hours a day). I was able to download easily one or two CD's a day (deleted all those due to lack of free space :( ). My cable net provider had some problems in past and i haven't checked after that if i am still getting that speed.. I will see if i can still download that much stuff..

Asaf, i am watching your movements with very keen interest, you are invensting in promoting linux by spreading in means of CDs, i have an idea, why dont you try to arrange technical workshops, seminars (not big ones), or anyother thing like that. I guess it will work, just an opinion.

Yes! that offer is still valid. All you need to do is drop good quality CDR at his office and pick them up few days later [ usually same day next week ].

Other alternative is check this page:

http://www.linuxpakistan.net/wiki/index ... hiSoftware

those in Islamabad contact Zaidi:

http://www.linuxpakistan.net/wiki/index ... nIslamabad

In Lahore we have volunteer contact cd@linuxpakistan.net for fixing up the time and location. Any problem or querry concerning Linux or Opensource software on CD ask cd@linuxpakistan.net .

Assalamualaikum everyone,

I'm a Pakistani from Karachi.... living in the USA. I'm very happy to see that people from Pakistan are interested in learning more open source/*nix.

Hey Asaf, it'd be nice to have Fedora core 1/2/3(test version) in market too, RH 9 has now gone down, no updates are available for RH 9, etc. Fedora is the new Redhat which i think is as stable as Redhat. I use it myself, and i'm satisfied.

Have fun guys, Farewell,
Allah Hafiz.

Hello,

Just wanted to know if this offer is still valid and what distros you are providing? I am interested in Knoppix and Gentoo and it will be real convenience dropping by your office and get the CDs burned.

Thanks,
