Gambas speeds database development

Post by farhantoqeer »

What is that new animal ? Well, Gambas is a free development environment based on a Basic interpreter with object extensions, like Visual Basic™ (but it is NOT a clone !)

I'm having a hard time understanding what niche this fills. It's advertised as not a Visual Basic clone, so it's obviously not for VB refugees. For a new Linux project, this is probably not a good candidate platform either because you'd have trouble getting development support.

oh, that's okay. php isn't anything like vb, but it's turned out to be the unix vb language -- and is also used for database-related development.

I disagree, we all know how good Linux RAD development tools are?
Gambas is means ALL MOST BASIC, it's VB-like, but not a mere clone, its supposed to be better, than VB when done, it could lead novice linux developer develop application leveraging open source technologies easily

And you think that gambas apps will not run on Windows? I dont think so, there are gambas apps which can be run on windows through cygwin
And this is version 1.0 after all, there can be a windows port in future.
