So PTCL goes down again. Both ITI and Flag links in RWP and KHI have been down for over 2 hours. Now this is s*** service. Enough to screw all of the data service providers. Damn those idiots!!

I really doubt the private owners could be nearly as screwy as the government.

Out of curiosity, is there a reason why PK doesn't have multiple connections to the inet?

The fault occurred late on Monday and systems are still down. One internet official said it could take two weeks to repair.

The fault has been traced to a point in the Arabian Sea 35km (21 miles) south of Karachi and technicians from Dubai are travelling to make repairs.

Shahid Ahmed, chief engineer of Pakistan Telecommunication (PTCL), which operates the link, said of the repair work: "This is a highly sophisticated operation and only specialised companies can undertake such a delicate task under the sea.

"Pakistan has no such ability."

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (Reuters) -- An undersea cable carrying data between Pakistan and the outside world has developed a serious fault, virtually crippling data feeds, including the Internet, telecommunications officials said.

The system crashed late on Monday and was still down on Tuesday evening. Many offices across the country ground to a halt as people realized it was not one of Pakistan's regular, but usually brief, technical hitches.

"It's a worst-case scenario. We are literally blank," said a senior foreign banker who declined to be identified.

An official at the Karachi stock exchange said Pakistan's main bourse was unaffected as it had its own internal trading system.

PTCL was f**king with me even before their link went down.

I had some problem that the connection was not disconnecting but I was recieving no bits at all. and due to this my p2p activities have been hurt badly!!!

It's been 9 years since they have internet here, but STILL they dont have any 'proper' and decent 56kps connection!!
