Web Application Development tools for Opensource??
Hello forum
I need web apllication development tool on RHL9 having support of opensource technologies, like php, java etc.
I download screem, but it require GLIB2.5.6. I install GLIB but the installation of screem dosnt proceed & stuck on checking the GLIB 2.5.6 (it cant recognize the GLIB). If anyone has used it plz help me to install GLIB & screem. or suggest anyother tool for e-com web development
Thanks in advance

Assalamualaikum,
I will not recommend you to upgrade to Fecora Core (any number), unless it is very necessary for your application to run. As Fecora Core is more resource hungry than RH 9 etc.
Now I will come to your original question, for php development on Linux, please consider using the following :
1- jEdit (I have been using it on RH 8 from the last 2 years)
2- Eclipse (if you have more than or 256mb RAM).
Best wishes & regards,
-Meraj Khattak

Aoa,
Khattak is right, also Fedora Core is not suitable for servers due to high amount of experimental stuff.
If you really need an RPM based server try CentOS or other distro. just not Fedora Core.
Here are the links:
jEdit http://www.jedit.org
eclipse http://www.eclipse.org (very huge to download ~80MB+)

My favorite is nvu. If you're planning to do WYSIWYG HTML/CSS, this is the tool. I'm not sure about how it feels about PHP, though.

Although the community might disagree, I would recommend the use of NetBeans IDE for Java.
Its developed by Sun Microsystems. And is more complete than eclipse at the moment.
NetBeans feature a complete IDE that can stand up to Visual Studio.
It also has a form designer in the essence of Visual Studio.
However, Eclipse is also getting developed pretty fast.
You can get NetBeans IDE from Sun microsystem's site.
I think you can get a Java+NetBeans bundle around 80MB from there.
as usual: http://java.sun.com

I ve installed netBeans (on RHL 9) it is very low in responding is it resource consuming IDE? as I have 128 MB Memory - also for that very reason I cant Insatalled Sun Java System Application Server (while installing stuck on 46% "Uncompressing appserv-assemblytools.jar", & installation doesnt proceed). Do by enhancing RAM will solve my problem & reveals of both quick responsiveness of netBeans & installeation Sun Java System Application Server?
