Hi guys,
I am tired of my winmodem which does not work under linux. I did find drivers for it on intel website but they were for redhat linux 9 and i am using fedora 4. As I have heard people say that external serial modems work well under linux without any struggle. I want to buy one. is their any of you guys who has an external modem which works on every linux distribution and every version of linux. Because I dont want to work on compiling the drivers. I just want to plug the modem and connect immediately with no hassle. If you guys know such a modem please tell me the brand and model of that modem. I will really be grateful to you.
Thanks

I would suggest that you go only for
US Robotics 56K External Serial Modem
or
Planet 56K External Serial Modem
Both of these works out of box, without any drivers hassle.
But be carefull not to buy US Robotics 56K External USB Modem because USB modems are winmodem and not supported by any linux distro.
