Asalmu alakum!
i am using redhat9, last time i was working in my linux box, strange things started to happen, i was unable to open anything with a KDE fault error. i rebooted my machine and found my self unbootable with the following message:
"
INIT: VERSION 2.84 BOOTING
INIT: Entering runlevel 5
INIT: Id "2" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
INIT: Id "5" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
INIT: Id "6" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
INIT: Id "1" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
INIT: Id "3" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
INIT: Id "4" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
INIT: no more processes left in this runlevel
"
i booted from the cd and when at console i tried:
"
chroot /mnt/sysimage
"
it gave me a SEGMENTATION FAULT.
i tried to change the runlevel from 5 to 3 no use.

I had the same problem a month ago but couldn't resolve it. At my system the reason of this error was Low Disk Space. I was compiling GNU compiler suite 3.2 (of over 450 MB size), while i had only 300MB space left on my root partition, so my system crashed with Segmentation Fault error and never booted successfully again. Therefore, i had to reinstall it.
