i have cable net connection for internet access. no messenger is working on my machine like yahoo messenger, gaim, and some other software. while all these software are workin on my window 98.

u need to use the ip + port # of the server connected to wan. i mean in uy mesengers setting u need to write the ip and port # of pxoxy,cache server
and usually port no for the cable net wala use is 8080
and ip u have to fine out by either asking or using the command
traceroute www.yahoo.com at shell which will tell u the next hop op address and for u thats going to be ther servers ip
it may be some thing like 192.168.X.X or 10.x.x.x usually kind of this

off course i know the proxy http and socks settings. but same linux 7.3 all messenger applications are workin properly on my dailup connection, but not on my cable net connection. i know how to configure these messenger applications. but i think there is some problem with with linux 7.3 client and ISA server as my proxy server.
do u have any idea.....

tRY giving this tcl based messenger for linux a try.a friend of mine used it successfully on linux using a desi cable net ..It has a better proxy support.
