Hello,
I am searching for URDU fonts for linux, is there any free/open source URDU fonts available for linux, so that i can use them in fedora core to tranlate some applications to URDU?

problem with these available fonts are they have a strange liencense, where to use these fonts in Linux's any Distro, they must be released with as relax as GPL.kbukhari wrote:install utf-8 format fonts urdu naksh will b visible for you most of the urdu sites are writen in utf-8

Always use UTF-8 encoding it will work on all Right to Left / Arabic Script Based Languages there is no issue for Left To Right / other scripts.
Use fonts from Pak Type and Arabeyes. Among these two you can be assured of having listing of every thing under GPL which you will find from other sources [ KACST, Sharif, ] also. There are few fonts [ mostly for Quran ] which are not listed any where yet but you have similar available between the two listed sources.
Avoid using fonts encumbered with weird / restrictive licensing.
