problem running Linux on Cable Net

AoA,

I am not an expert of linux,I am using Redhat 9 and my cable net was working fine on it but my cablewala came and said to me that ur pc is conflicting with our server running Windows 2000 and when u login our net speed goes down so don't use Linux on the network.

I was really disoppointed coz without net my Linux box will be useless.I also said to my cablewala that there might be another reason for decrease in speed but he didn't agree.

So,plz help me out,is my cablewala is right or there is something else.

how did the cable person came to know that u use linux???u must have told him?? as they mostly r non educated...some one may have told him that linux is very...OS so suddenly it came in his mind that u use linux?and he stoped u

any how pls be cool for few days ..after the matter cools down then start again cable net in linux box and never tell him that u r using linux.. and pretend that u r using WIN

but i never felt that net speed goes slow on linux... even though i had tried to use it on the linux cliens while other r running win98 with serverin runnin win2k.. it goes fine ..
he just lied u that it affect the net speed


btw where r u using cable net.. i mean city ..area

I think u Cablewala just business Man he had no idea about OS or Networking
u use linux on Cablenet no problum...

well, it has nothing to do with linux.

cable net works well on linux, you just run it normally ...

Well, as the others said, ur cablewala seems to be IT and LINUX UNEDUCATED.hehe

So use the net on linux without any problem and dont let ur CW (cable walla) know about this.
