Post by barlas »

AOA!
I have changed my motherboard and processor. I have already redhat linux 9 installed. should i reinstall it, or it didn't need it? I am asking because my win98 started hardware confliction and i had to reinstall it. I thougt it will be better to ask you guys.
by the way i am not in very hurry as I am not using linux for couple of days, and will not use it for some days(due to some personel reasons).

barlas,
No. Redhat will detect the changes and configure itself. The only reason when you need to intervene is when you move hard drives around. Like if you move the hard drive from the primary to the secondary bus, linux won't boot (root of /dev/hdb?? changed to /dev/hdd??). IN that case, you need to boot into a rescue disc and change the fstab to reflect the new settings.

Just for the mother board and processor, not at all.
