Downloading Prob...

Post by mudasir »

Hi...
i have a problem...i have configured my linux box with SQUID 2.5 STABLE 12....and few IPTABLES rules.....
now the prob is that....i have configured DELAY_POOLS tag to limit downloading speed and to fix http bandwidth per user....now if any one tries to download any thing from our local multimedia server that we have here...it limits the bandwidth on that also...means downloading from local site easily gives 3 to 5 MBps speed....now it is giving the specified amount of bandwidth that i have specified in DELAY_POOLS tag....

what i want to do is that....not to limit bandwidth while downloading from any of our local sites....but the delay_pools should be applied to downloading from internet

i hope i will get some replies not like my previous post..... :(
only farrukh bhai replied .....

hope to get replies soon....
Kind Regards

Salam

You can create a separate acl for your internal websites/ipaddresses and exclude it in the delay_pools tag.

Hello,
You can even write a redirection rule for multimedia machine on squid, so if the traffic comes for multimedia machine it will redirect it, before it goes to SQUID.

thanks

AOA...

first of all thnx for the reply guyz...

i have solved this porblem of local downloading by creating an ACL in squid and allowing that acl unlimited bandwidth.....

now the problem that is coming in delay_pools is that it is giving a lot delay in opening a page..
like when i enter any address and press enter....it takes about 8 to 10 seconds to start loading any page.....now can any one tell me how to remove this delay.....

if you want i can post my squid.conf file....

and can any one give me the best configuration for rc.local....for a cable net guy.....
cause CHAT MESSENGERS are not working.......none of the messengers are working....

please help me out...
Kind Regards

Hello,

cause CHAT MESSENGERS are not working.......none of the messengers are working....
btw, rc.local is not made for this pupose  there are thousand other reasons for this file, in fact you are suppose to ask for IPTABLES rules not rc.local.

cheers
