Have used wine till the extent of Microsoft Office through it and some other apps. What specifically is the problem, like as you only mentioned database connectivity?

First came the problem
OK , we had problems with MS Jet 4 installation ..
Then you solved it
We have done it by copying windows native dll files

If it is working, then why are you concerned about the End User License??

zaheer , you are right ... If I am going to commit piracy then I have to adopt another way .. I can not voilate ...
all that I have done copying some windows dll files is only for testing purpose ... and it is successful .. .. so before I implement this ... I want to be clear ... that I am not committing Piracy

So now the question before us .. Can we copy windows native dll files .?

if you copy the dlls off a pirated copy of windows, it's probably not legal.

if you own a properly licensed copy of windows, and you copied the dlls from it, it's probably legal. i don't think windows's license has any clause that prevents you from copying the dlls.

either way, you can't "redistribute" the dlls, unless microsoft specifically allows that.

two things at same time

1) can copy windows dll files if valid eula.

2) can not redistribute

contradictory ..
is not ??

redistribute means bundle the dlls with a program and give it away/sell it/put it on a hundred desktops in your company/whatever.

So If I have installed genuine windows installed on one machine and copy its dll files for other machines / operating systems without prior permission from microsoft I mean, Not permitted in my Windows EULA ...

is this not redistribution ?? .... so what u say .. It is legal...

if you're copying the dlls to another machine, it's probably not legal. if you're copying them to a linux partition on the same machine, it's probably legal. that's not redistribution because you're not giving the dlls away. you're the person who copied them, and you're the person using them.

I do not have the refrence handy so take this as my view only. What you are trying to do is not allowed even if you have EULA IMHO, to do this you need to have permission / licensing.

Have you considered open source option?
